President Faure attended a special Evensong at Westminster Abbey to mark the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth, where he met the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

The archbishop conveyed his greetings and blessings for peace and unity to the people of Seychelles.

The ceremony took place on Sunday April 15 and the welcome was given by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, who also pronounced the blessing.

Heads of government and high commissioners from some 53 Commonwealth nations were among the congregation.

It was The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of All England and Metropolitan, who preached the sermon.

The biennial meeting of the heads of government from the Commonwealth is taking place in London and Windsor from April 16-20.
