STB launches ‘The Seychellois Creole Cuisine’ photo contest |21 April 2018

In keeping up with its annual Facebook photography competition, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) is inviting photography enthusiasts to capture the uniqueness of the Seychelles’ mouth-watering Creole cuisine.

This year’s competition themed ‘Lakwizin Kreol Seselwa’ (The Seychellois Creole Cuisine) was launched on Tuesday April 16.

Open only to residents of Seychelles, the competition is targetting people aged 18 years and above.

Interested participants have until 10am on May 7, 2018 to submit their photos, which must not have been entered in any local or international competitions before.

This year’s competition is an extension of last year’s contest, which was themed ‘Best of Creole Cuisine’.

STB’s director of digital marketing, Vahid Jacob, said: “We have decided to go with a similar theme this year, hoping to get a diverse selection of photos depicting the Seychelles’ cuisine for our image library. Although the competition went well last year, we did not get the variety of images we were expecting.”

“Recently, we have noticed a sharp rise in the number of photos showcasing the Creole cuisine being posted on social media, following the creation of the group *Ki menu Tanto* on Facebook, so we decided to join the hype by launching the photography competition.”

Each participant will be allowed to submit a maximum of 2 high-resolution photos, which must be accompanied by a caption and description, including the place where it was taken and the full name of the participant.

To enter the competition, participants have to send an email to competitions@seychelles.travel and request a registration pack.

Participants also have to ‘like’ STB’s Facebook page before submitting their entry, as part of STB’s strategy to increase its fan base on social media.

All photos have to be inboxed to the STB’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/seychelles.tourismboard or can be dropped off at the STB headquarters at Botanical House, Mont Fleuri.

Mr Jacob said: “An internal panel will make the final selection of photos. Chosen submissions will be placed in a Facebook album at the end of the competition on the Seychelles Tourism Board Facebook page.”

Facebook fans will be given 48 hours to vote for their favourite photos. Voting will open on Tuesday May 8 at 2pm and close on Thursday May 10 at 2pm. The winners will be announced on the same day the voting closes.

“The top 3 winners will be those with the highest number of likes. A fourth prize, a judges’ choice award, will be awarded to the most outstanding photograph as determined by the internal panel,” said Mr Jacob.

The first prize is a two-night stay on half-board basis for two persons in a junior suite sponsored by the H Resort Beau Vallon Beach, Seychelles.

The second prize is a two-night stay on bed and breakfast for two persons in a superior room sponsored by Le Meridien Fishermen’s Cove.

The third prize sponsored by Carana Beach Hotel is a one-night stay for two persons on bed and breakfast basis.

Eden Bleu Hotel’s Marlin Bleu restaurant is sponsoring dinner for two for the winner of the judges’ choice award.

All photos submitted to the Facebook photography competition becomes the property of the Seychelles Tourism Board and will be used on its social media platforms, as well as in its promotional campaigns when marketing Seychelles as a tourist destination across the globe.
