Nouvobanq launches new debit card |30 April 2018

Nouvobanq will launch its new Visa and Union Pay debit card on Wednesday May 2.

According to the bank, the debit card which can now be used internationally and online, is seen as an important initiative to improve and enhance its debit card.

The new chip technology embedded in the debit card offers a safe security environment which is extremely difficult to clone, skim, or transfer its customers’ sensitive payments information. 

There is also the added security of a secret PIN for online purchase. 

This security feature is based on a One Time Password (OTP) which is sent onto the customer’s mobile number registered with the bank to complete a purchase.

Customers should note that this process will be activated only on merchant webpage which is 3D secure and on those webpages which are not 3D secure the transaction will be completed without an OTP.

As from Thursday May 3, 2018 Nouvobanq will start the process of replacing the existing magnetic strip debit cards with the new ‘Chip and PIN’ debit cards.

Existing customers are invited to collect their replacement card from where they have opened their bank account.
