Gran Kaz donates R100,000 to support early childhood development project |30 April 2018

Gran Kaz Entertainment has donated R100,000 to the Institute of Early Childhood Development. The money is for an ‘early learning environment research project’ to be undertaken later this year.

Shama Amesbury, public relations manager at Gran Kaz Entertainment, presented the cheque to Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD) chief executive Shirley Choppy during the opening ceremony of the institute’s documentation centre on Friday afternoon.

This is the second cheque for the same amount that Gran Kaz donates for projects to benefit children in the early childhood stage and the money comes from the company’s corporate social responsibility (CRS) funds.

Mrs Choppy explained that the money will be used to conduct an assessment to establish standards in order to improve teaching and learning environment for young children. The study will target crèches and pre-schools on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.

Mrs Choppy also thanked Gran Kaz Entertainment for the generous donation and said she hoped for more support not only from Gran Kaz but other private businesses to fund numerous other projects to benefit small children in their education.
