Ceps chairman Jude Fred’s message on the occasion of lnternational Labour Day |02 May 2018

‘Let us take a moment to reflect on the concept of descent work for all’

“Fellow workers and employers May 1is the International Labour Day celebrated for many years throughout the world and this is normally done by workers as a reflection of our contributions made towards the betterment of our society and the world in general.

“In Seychelles, labour issues are no exceptions. As we celebrate International Labour Day under the theme ‘Working hard today for a better future’ let us take a moment to reflect on the concept of descent work for all and adequate wages that will keep our workers out of poverty.

“However, it is also crucial for employers to make a special effort to review the working conditions of their employees and while doing so, understand their social needs and address them reasonably.

Fellow workers give the best of yourselves, act responsibly in your working environment and perform your duties diligently.

“To conclude let us all address impending labour issue quickly with respect of the basic human rights of others. Let us all work together to improve our working environment for our blessed Seychelles.

“On behalf of Ceps I wish you all a happy and blessed Labour Day 2018”.
