VP Meriton hails K-Radio’s ‘positive messages’ to the youths |18 May 2018

“K-Radio is providing excellent entertainment and sending out positive messages to the youths,” Vice-President Vincent Meriton has said.

He made the remark after visiting the newly established radio station - K-Radio - at Le Chantier Mall yesterday as part of activities to mark this year’s Information Communications and Technology (ICT) week.

VP Meriton toured various sections of the broadcasting house like the radio studio, administration office, among others.

He was accompanied by the principal secretary of the Department of Information Communication Technology (DICT) Benjamin Choppy, and K-Radio staff who greeted him upon arrival at the station.

K-Radio is owned by the Kreol Entertainment, a newly established local entertainment-based company set up in July 2017. The station officially started broadcasting on January 22, 2018.

VP Meriton said K-Radio is providing outstanding entertainment and sending out positive messages to the youths.

“Since its establishment a couple of months ago, K-Radio has successfully been able to connect with the youths and the Seychelles community in terms of music, news and programmes that it broadcasts.  With such a small team the station is doing a noble task of providing information to the public, educating and entertaining the people,” said VP Meriton.

He added that ICT weeks allow people to reflect on the ideas to prosper our small country in terms of technology.

“We have a lot of ideas that can help our country to grow, such as artificial intelligence or a platform that can link each establishment together to provide better and accurate information,” he said.

After touring the station, the managing director of K-Radio, Aubrey Philo, provided VP Meriton with letters which state that the station is ready to work with the government on some projects which will benefit the youths.
