Minister Dogley gets accustomed to the aviation business |19 May 2018

The new Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Didier Dogley, has affirmed his support to assist the local civil aviation authority to deal with its challenges and constraints.

Minister Dogley said this on Wednesday during his visit to the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority’s (SCAA) head office at the airport where he met the management team, the chairman of the board Captain David Savy and the chief executive Gilbert Faure. Also present was the principal secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Garry Albert.

Minister Dogley was introduced to members of the team and their respective responsibilities.

He was also given a brief on the aviation business which is quite new to him.

Mr Dogley urged them to work with him to help bring the level of satisfaction of airport users to a higher level.

“I can see that the authority is doing its utmost to keep improving infrastructure at the airport to cater for both tourists and local clients, in spite of its every day challenges such as limited operational environment,” Mr Dogley said.

He acknowledges the great role that the airport plays in the economy as a vital point of entry for tourists and the need to invest in both short term and long term projects to cater for the continuous increase in traffic.

Mr Dogley toured the partly completed domestic terminal including the other areas which are still under construction such as the prominent Commercial Important Persons (CIP) lounge, a spa and offices. He also got the opportunity to see the ongoing works for the second phase of the project which include the new domestic arrival terminal. This part of the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The project is being undertaken by the Allied Builders construction firm and its representatives were also present to brief the minister.

The accompanying photos show the minister and his delegation during the airport visit.
