Seychelles attends Global Exhibition on Services (GES) 2018 |21 May 2018

A delegation from Seychelles attended the fourth Global Exhibition on Services (GES) held in Mumbai, India from May 14-18, 2018.

The team consisted of representatives from the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB), the Small Enterprise Promotion Agency (Senpa), the Ministry of Health and the Trade Division. The Seychelles high commission in India played a key role in ensuring Seychelles’ participation at this year’s event.

The GES is organised by the Indian Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of Maharashtra, the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Services Export Promotion Council. GES showcased twenty two sectors; IT, Financial, Education, Media and Entertainment, Healthcare, Tourism & Travel, Construction and Engineering, Transport and Distributions among others.

Two hundred and eight countries are participating in this year’s exhibition.

“The exhibition provides an opportunity to understand the potential for services oriented investments in Seychelles and to increase FDI flow in the sectors,” said Cindy Vidot, chief executive of SIB.

During the event, the team networked with business delegations from across the world and conducted B2B and B2G meetings to explore investment opportunities for Seychelles.

The members also explored other exhibitors/countries’ stalls to survey the products on offer with the view of a possible Seychelles exhibition in 2019. Having a stall at such an exposition is expensive, thus if Seychelles decides to participate, it will be a collective effort under the Seychelles Flag consisting of various government agencies as well as members from the private business community. The services sector is the main contributor and employer within our economy and as such we should continuously be looking at avenues to expand.
