Family Affairs Minister Larue takes on new approach to engage with the community |26 May 2018

Mitcy Larue continued her familiarisation with her new portfolio as Minister for Family Affairs through a community visit on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

Minister Larue, accompanied by the principal secretary for Family Affairs Marie-Josée Bonne, met families who recently lost a relative to provide moral support. Minister Larue highlighted unity as a core value that needs to be strengthened and upheld within the families especially during these times.

The delegation also visited Baie Ste Anne Hospital, Logan Hospital and families seeking urgent assistance from the ministry.

Apart from public appointments on Mondays, Minister Larue has vowed for more of these community visits.

“The realities of what our families are going through -- be it bad or good -- do not lie in our offices; we have to reach out to them and understand their situations and environment,” Minister Larue said.

This community visit was also in line with the programme for the International Day of Families celebrated on May 15 whereby key stakeholders organised a series of activities to promote family values and best practices.
