Seychelles participates in 7th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport |28 May 2018

Seychelles took part in the 7th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport under the theme ‘Determine the Future, Be Part of the Change’.

The event was held in Gaborone, Botswana from May 17 to 20, 2018.

The Seychelles delegation comprised Delta Ward Horner (chairperson of SWASA), Chantal Hoffman and Stephanie Duval (both members of SWASA).

The IWG world conferences on Women and Sport are milestone events which every four years focus global attention on specific goals and action steps aimed at offering men and women equal opportunities in the sport arena.

The economic, social and cultural impact of the many hundreds of delegates representing nations from all continents is significant and has resulted in concrete benefits for the previous host countries.

The IWG is a critical link between representatives of international, regional and national organisations interested in women and sport issues, making the IWG world conferences important opportunities for interaction and discussion.

The monitoring role of the IWG is of key importance to the conference development. Monitoring of the developments worldwide in women and sport along with information on best practices is continually collected by the IWG secretariat made available to all conference participants in the form of a quadrennial progress report on Women and Sport.

About 1600 delegates from various countries attended the 7th IWG World Conference.
