Football: Cosafa Cup 2018 - Seychelles hold the Barea for second draw |01 June 2018

The Seychelles selection competing at the ongoing Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup in South Africa have exceeded expectations by registering a 1-1 draw against Madagascar on Tuesday, the second in as many matches.

Madagascar took the lead in the 23rd minute of the match through Jaotombo Bourah, before Warren Eric Mellie equalised for Seychelles in the 34th minute.

Madagascar ended the match with 10 men after Nomenjanahary was shown the red card in the 77th minute.

Mellie was voted as ‘Man of the Match’, a title also received by Karl Hall in the match against the Comoros – a 1-1 draw.

With two draws for two points, Seychelles were in third position ahead of the third and final match against Mozambique last night.

Madagascar had accumulated four points from a win and a draw ahead of their final game against the Comoros who had garnered 1 point after a draw and a 0-3 defeat against Mozambique.

In the final group matches last night, Seychelles were to face Mozambique, while the Comoros were to play Madagascar.

With the group stage ending yesterday and the elimination of six teams, the top seeds, namely Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland will enter the quarterfinal stage.

It is to note that Madagascar have not lost their last four matches, while Seychelles have not registered a win in their last 12.
