Eight youngsters to represent Seychelles at regional competition

 

Eight young athletes have been chosen to represent Seychelles in the Regional Futbolnet competition which will be held from June 6-7 in Mauritius.

The players were presented with their with tracksuits and plane tickets by the president of the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) Antonio Gopal during a ceremony at the association’s headquarters at Stad Linite, Roche Caïman on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Gopal said the students have been working hard in training in preparation for the event and added that he is willing to help in sports, no matter what.

“I am very happy to create such an opportunity for these young athletes and it is a pleasure for me to help out in sports, as I believe that this is a good opportunity for them to compete abroad and they earned this opportunity through hard work and training,” added Mr Gopal, before thanking the parents for their support and wishing the young athletes the best of luck.

The players making the trip are Dahn Fanchette, Naythan Barbe, Javis Ladouce, Jahnyl Esparon, Daren Vidot, Farah-Rose Jean-Louis, Reena Esther and Cheryl Vidot.

They will be accompanied by supervisor Noella Adela and head of delegation Norbert Dogley.

During this meeting, safety factors were the main focus as well as luggage handling and finance.

The team will depart Seychelles on June 5 and are expected back on June 8.

Since the players are very young, Mr Dogley explained that he will be behind them one hundred percent.

“We will schedule training and meetings every day, and we will be sure to keep track every step of the way,” said head of delegation Dogley.
