Thai community come together to celebrate long-lasting relations with Seychelles |04 June 2018

It was a fun day yesterday at the Royal Thai Garden in the Botanical Gardens at Mont Fleuri as members of the Thai community working and living in Seychelles gathered to socialise and celebrate the 30 years of long diplomatic relations between Thailand and Seychelles.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi has worked together with the Thai consulate in Victoria and the National Botanical Gardens Foundation (NBGF) to organise the event.

As part of the activities Thai workers, together with employees of the NBGF under the guidance of the foundation’s chief executive Raymond Brioche and the Thai consul in Seychelles Joe Chung-Faye  and several other Seychellois friends, planted 30 endemic palm saplings on the slope of the Royal Thai Gardens.

“This is to strengthen the bonds of friendship and represents the long standing relations between our two countries,” said Adittha Buakhamsi, counsellor at the Royal Thai embassy in Nairobi who is in Seychelles for the event.

Also on the programme were cultural dance performances of traditional dance from north eastern Thailand performed by Thai nationals working at the IOT.

The Thai community also shared special Thai dishes and delicacies with their Seychellois friends.
