Children meet on ‘the Greatest Journey’ discipleship programme |15 June 2018

Over 40 young children aged 5 to 16 years old gathered in St Luke's Church, Bel Ombre, some few days ago for the launch of ‘the Greatest Journey’ discipleship programme.

This outreach event was filled with gospel songs, a presentation of the Gospel that a child can understand followed by the distribution of gift boxes.

Each child received a shoe box and after a countdown, they all opened their gifts at the same time. Squeals of delight and shouts of joy filled the church. These shoe boxes have been packed by families from various countries. A gift of love in the form of a shoe box softens hearts and prepares them for the Good News of Jesus Christ. All who received boxes are also invited to attend a 12-week follow-up discipleship programme called ‘The Greatest Journey’.

Here they learned more about what it means to follow Jesus and walk with Him for a lifetime, and how to share their faith. Upon completion of discipleship programme, they graduated and received a certificate and a New Testament, equipped to grow and bear fruit for Christ’s Kingdom.

The launch ceremony concluded with a special blessing of children by the parish priest, Canon Lebrun Rabat. Those who took part joyfully concluded the ceremony with the song entitled "I am who God says I am" by Sinach.

We thank the Almighty God for this amazing Blessing and pray for His continued protection and guidance as we embark on the ‘Greatest Journey’!

The programme for the youth is part of a worldwide programme. The coordinators for St Luke are Eline Moses and Maryana Labonté.
