Karting: National Championship Round 3 |20 June 2018

Leaders extend lead

In the Junior category, Aaron Michel won the SF5 round after a great battle with eventual second place finisher Lopez Anacoura.

Lopez was about to overtake Aaron on the final few laps but overdid it and spun but luckily held on to second place, with Eric Maillet taking third position and series leader Cedric Ah-Time taking fourth. Wallice Sinon finished fifth and Johan Versani sixth.

Cedric still leads the championship with 80 points, but Lopez is now second just 1 point adrift (79) while Aaron is third on 63 points.

With 11 starters in the SF6 class, Dhuvil Varodhia again took maximum points, winning the final ahead of Darrel Gabriel with Bryan Chayumwai finishing third.

Salama Entete took fourth place followed by Ruben Magan and Enzo Lionnet in fifth and sixth positions.

Varodhia leads the table with 100 points followed by Gabriel with 68 and Magan on 42.

In the senior classes, SF3 was won by Louisa Lafortune ahead of favourite Fabio William. Christian Bastienne had to fend off Denilson Melanie for third place.

This is the first time Louisa takes a win in this class, while Fabio was running with tyre issues and dropped a lot of points from this round.

Bastienne now leads the table with 44 pts followed by Morin on 43, Melanie on 34, Lafortune on 33, William on 32, Camille on 31 and Dodin on 22.

In the SF2 class, Peter Fred took victory, however he was lucky to have nudged third place finisher Damian Bonnelame out at the first corner after the start that left Damian in a spin and dropped down the order only to claw back to finish third. He could have been a serious threat to Peter had it gone to the wire.

Mitra Labrosse capitalised on all this and took a brilliant second place. In the group further back saw Krisl Gopal, Rennick Bonnelame and Dean Germain fighting it out with Krisl taking fourth place, Dean was fifth and Rennick sixth.

Peter now heads the table with 55 points, followed by M. Delcy with 50, D. Bonnelame with 46, Labrosse with 36, Germain with 28, Gopal with 26, R. Bonnelame with 22 and Decommarmond with 10.

The SF1 class was run in conjunction with the SF3 class due to a low entry. Here Dave Rene won when he capitalised on a mistake by Liza Rene-Cosgrow who was leading at the time, and got boxed in-between two other lapped karts, losing the lead and ran out of laps to try to retake it back and had to settle for second.

Andy Denousse ran to third in the class. This was the first race this season for this class.

In the SF Ladies class, Liza Rene-Cosgrow took another win to extend her championship lead.

Mitra Labrosse took second place with the ever improving Philippa Samson taking a strong third position. Louisa Lafortune had to drop out with mechanical problems thus losing a lot of points from this round.

Liza leads the table with 50 pts, followed by Mitra on 36, Samson on 26 and Lafortune on 12.
