Real Maldives, Plaisance leaders

Real Maldives are the leaders of the division two standings at almost half way through the championship, while Plaisance, Rovers and Bel Air are locked in a three-way tie at the top of the third division.

Originating from Maldives, a sub-district of Anse Etoile, Real Maldives boast 25 points – six more than current runners-up St John Bosco (19 points) who lost their place in the top flight at the end of last season.

They have also scored the most goals – 29 – and have the best defence with only 8 goals conceded in nine games played for eight wins and a draw.

Perseverance are the tailenders and are yet to pick up a victory in nine matches played in the 11-team league.

In the third division, three teams – Plaisance, Rovers and Bel Air – are locked on 14 points after four wins, two draws and a loss apiece in seven matches played.

Plaisance are in the driver’s seat by virtue of a better goal difference of +14 (21 for and 7 against), Rovers are second with a difference of +8 (19 for and 11 against), while Bel Air, who are under the leadership of former Seychelles international midfielder Ralph ‘Tiapout’ Jean-Louis who also coached the Seychelles team to victory in the Indian Ocean Island Games on home soil in 2011, also have a goal difference of +8 (16 for and 8 against).

Anse Royale and Bel Ombre are also locked on 13 points after collecting four wins in seven games. They each have a draw and two defeats to their name.

Under the leaders of ex-Seychelles striker Philip Zialor, Mont Fleuri are the only unbeaten team in the league and they boast three wins and three draws in six matches played and they are sixth on the table.
