Indian bariatric doctor visits Seychelles |20 June 2018

 

 

Dr Jayashree Todkar, a bariatric specialist from India, was on a short  two-day visit to Seychelles on June 15-16 on the invitation of Jeo Jyoti Foundation, to conduct a bariatric camp next month.

The specialist gave consultations to the patients identified by the Seychelles Hospital and who require bariatric surgery.

She also gave a PowerPoint presentation to doctors and health personnel at the hospital.

Dr Jayashree is an eminent bariatric surgeon and has performed more than 50,000 surgeries of which nearly 6000 patients underwent  bariatric surgery.

She is the director of the JT Foundation in India and also a honorary member of Jeo Jyoti Foundation in Seychelles. Dr Jayashree is mentioned in the Limca Book of Records and is involved in many public health awareness programmes and doctors education programmes.

She is the recipient of multiple international and Indian awards.

Bariatric surgery is solution to obesity which is quite common in Seychelles and once attended to can cure many serious ailments like diabetes, heart problem, renal problems and many other serious health problems.

Jeo Jyoti Foundation has plans to conduct regular bariatric camps in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

The foundation has conducted many health camps including total knee replacements, spine surgeries, IV fistula insertions, eye surgery, blood donation and yoga camps since 2011.

Jeo Jyoti Foundation has plans to conduct health camps and is also planning to develop an Obese Task Force in Seychelles.
