Air Seychelles introduces new baggage policy on its regional network |21 June 2018

Air Seychelles will introduce a new baggage policy on its regional network, effective Sunday, July 1, 2018.

Redesigned to better meet the needs of individual travellers, the new baggage structure, which will be implemented across the airlines regional network including Mauritius, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg and Seychelles, will now be based on the total weight concept instead of the number of bags being checked-in.

As such, guests travelling in Business Class will now be entitled to 40kg of checked baggage while Economy Class guests will be entitled to 30kg.  Guests travelling with Air Seychelles to Abu Dhabi connecting onto the Etihad Airways onward flight to their final destination will enjoy the 40kg both in Economy Class and Business Class during the entire journey.

In addition to the checked-in baggage, Business Class guests are entitled to 12kg of hand luggage allowance, while Economy Class guests will be allowed to bring on board a total of 7kg.

As the new baggage policy will take effect for tickets issued from Sunday, July 1, guests who have purchased their ticket before that date, will still be entitled to the old baggage policy outlined on their tickets.

Remco Althuis, chief executive of Air Seychelles, said: “Switching from the piece concept to a total weight based baggage structure will align Air Seychelles with the industry’s best practice currently being implemented by other airlines worldwide.

“As part of the baggage policy review, we have also made the excess baggage rates more attractive, varying from the most attractive rates available on airseychelles.com to last minute airport purchase.”
