Former Praslin secondary students found guilty |22 June 2018

Four former students from Praslin secondary school have been found guilty by the Juvenile Court for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a fellow student during a fight two years ago.

The fight which took place outside the school compound near the St Joseph’s Church at Grand Anse in 2016 went viral and the level of violence it showed raised public concern.

The four have been released on certain conditions like; they should not commit or be involved in any fighting incidents for the next three years; they will be obliged to follow anger management sessions; they will also have to pay R10,000 each as compensation to the victim and failure to do so will result in three months’ imprisonment. They have 14 days to appeal.
