President Faure on state visit to India |22 June 2018

President Danny Faure will undertake his first state visit to India from June 22-27 following the invitation extended to him by his Indian counterpart, Ram Nath Kovind. He left the country yesterday.

President Faure will visit Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Goa, before the state visit on June 25-26, and meet regional leadership.

In Ahmedabad, he will visit prestigious institutions of higher learning including the Indian Institute of Management, and the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University.

While in Goa, President Faure will visit the Indian Naval Air Station. He will then go to New Delhi where he will meet President Ram Nath Kovind, the Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, and other high level officials.

The president will also hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

The members of President Faure’s delegation include: Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture, Charles Bastienne; Minister for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport, Pamela Charlette; Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure; Secretary of State for Poverty Alleviation, Dick Esparon; Secretary of State for Finance, Patrick Payet; High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of India, Ambassador Philippe Le Gall; Clerk of the National Assembly, Jutta Alexis; chairperson of Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Oliver Bastienne; chairman of Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps), Jude Fred; and members of the local press corps.

President Faure is expected to return to the country on June 28.
