Seychelles in the limelight as STB partners with WeddingSutra to honour excellence in India’s world of weddings |28 June 2018

The beautiful Seychelles islands were showcased as the worlds of fashion, beauty, and advertising matched with the world of weddings at the Taj Mahal Palace, as Mumbai hosted the first WeddingSutra Influencer Awards.

The event was held in April 2018, in a spectacular evening organised by WeddingSutra – a popular online wedding planning website in India, in collaboration with the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB).

Some of India’s top designers, celebrities and the cream of Mumbai’s society were present at the ceremony aimed at celebrating excellence in the wedding industry, with a touch of glamour.

Accolades were presented to deserving wedding planners, wedding designers, and wedding filmmakers among others.

The award ceremony was preceded by an engaging session, discussing the mounting trend of destination celebrations as part of new cultural tendencies. Indian designer duo, Shivan and Narresh, discussed the upward trend in the number of couples opting to host events and getaways at exotic locations like Seychelles that serves as the ideal canvas for new age celebrations.

The Seychelles islands characterised by powder-white beaches, clear azure waters and stunning locations accompanied by the people’s warm hospitality also make it a popular pre and post-wedding getaway.

The designer duo, who recently launched their new Seychelles’ inspired resort and destination wedding wear collection – the Edomer series, also brought to fore the change in the mindsets of the millennial brides and their approach, while planning their nuptials.

The event was also a glittering platform for some of the most esteemed fashion designers in the industry. Each designer created a concept table inspired by their latest wedding collections. Adding a wealth of visual resonance, their muses and guests also came dressed in outfits from their recent lines, furthering the glamour quotient of the event.

Shivan & Narresh took the opportunity to dedicate their tables to the islands of Praslin and La Digue respectively. The designers even designed Seychelles itineraries printed over customised cards and an LED photo booth that were a reflection of Seychellois aesthetics.

The chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Sherin Francis, said STB is very happy to have been a part of this innovative and seamless integration with the Indian designers, which further panned out to WeddingSutra Influencer awards.

“The award function had a unique format which highlighted the Seychelles inspired collection and the designers behind in a very well-kneaded manner. We have witnessed an increase in the number of Indian pre and post wedding celebrations in Seychelles and hope to capture more of this segment in the coming years,” said Mrs Francis.

For his part the co-founder and CEO WeddingSutra.com, Parthip Thyagarajan, said: “We understand weddings and luxury events. It's our love. It's our Life. Not only are we completely focused on bringing the best of wedding news and trends to our readers, WeddingSutra has also become the leading platform for the industry where we shine the spotlight on the key players in the celebrations space-hoteliers, travel and tourism industry professionals, and fashion, lifestyle and beauty marketers.
