Seychellois diaspora celebrate National Day in Paris |30 June 2018

The Seychellois Diaspora in France gathered at their embassy during a reception on June 23 to get to know their new ambassador and also avail of that opportunity for an early celebration of the 42nd independence anniversary of their homeland.

A majority of the estimated 300-strong Seychellois community in France responded to the invitation of Ambassador Sylvestre Radegonde to join him in a cocktail dînatoir at the Seychelles embassy on Avenue Mozart, in the 16ème arrondissement of Paris.

The high point of the evening was when the national anthem was played just before Ambassador Radegonde made a few remarks to the gathering. As Koste Seselwa was played, the crowd sang the words of the national anthem with emotions causing tears to well up in some eyes.

Ambassador Radegonde, who is the new resident ambassador of Seychelles to France, said he intends to make engaging with the Seychellois diaspora a central component of his diplomatic duties.
