60 seek greater conquest as women |14 July 2018

Sixty Christian women have met in an annual conference focused on how to strengthen themselves to play their roles better as mothers, wives and workers by mimicking their Heavenly master who emerged the winner after conquering death.

Delegates from East, Central and West Africa were among those present at the two-day meeting held recently at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Resort under the theme ‘Victorious women’.

It was hosted last weekend by Pastor Marieline Camile of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and addressed by guest minister Pastor Joy Oladapo from Rwanda.

“Our victory to overcome is found in placing our faith in the Victor himself – Jesus Christ,” Pastor Marieline told the delegates.

“We are overcomers through the One who has overcome. His (conquest) is now our victory. His strength is now our strength. Let us have faith, remembering this is the victory that overcomes the world,” she said.

She added the conference would – by the grace of God – help them secure and boost their knowledge that nothing would be able to separate the women from “the Love of Christ … their victory”.

Mrs Camille expressed confidence that the conference would “cause their faith to be revived and their lives would never be the same again”.

In a message from Ibadan, wife of the Nigeria-based RCCG overseer, Pastor Foluke Adeboye, urged women to depend on God’s grace, “not theirs”.

“No man shall prevail by strength,” she said, quoting the Bible. “This is the time when anybody will need grace more than ever before.”

“Every human being wants to excel in life. Some receive their strength from various places but their end is eternal destruction. Our own source is God, the giver of all grace,” she said.

Beside one of her key messages entitled, “The Victorious woman; the winning woman”, by host pastor Marieline, others were headed “Our assurance for victory,” by guest speaker Pastor Oladapo, “The winning woman in her home, community and career,” by Maud Ado and “Agents of victory” by Seychelles and Reunion RCCG coordinator Pastor Terence Payet.

In her closing remarks, Deaconess Shirley Thomas thanked those who had the arduous task of organising the conference, noting:

“The Lord has brought us from afar to bless us. They crossed the ocean to be with us.”

The senior nurse by profession thanked believers who offered song, dance and drama presentations.
