This saw the participation of 16 individuals from various small tourism establishments from Praslin and La Digue.

The session was led by digital marketing expert Damian Cook, and it provided the perfect opportunity for the participants to learn how to expand their digital presence.

They were exposed to the various means on online marketing including websites and social media platforms and also given insights on how to grow of their digital presence.

Mr Cook has been invited by the STB’s digital marketing department to facilitate the second digital marketing workshop in the Seychelles.

“The old marketing models are struggling to make sense in this digital world. One in seven people have Facebook and use it regularly. This is why it is important for business owners to create presence where markets are,” said Damian Cook.

He also mentioned that digital marketing trends are quick to change and that the survival of a business depends on its ability to create opportunities.

In her address, before presenting participants with their certificates, the STB chief executive, Sherin Francis, reiterated the commitment of the STB to ensure that stakeholders in the tourism sector remain up to date with the best ways of keeping their businesses active.

“We will continue to promote ways to enlarge your businesses, as business that comes to you, comes to the destination as well,” said Mrs Francis.
