Canadian HC pays farewell call on National Assembly Speaker |14 July 2018

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Nicholas Prea, received the outgoing high commissioner (HC) of Canada to Seychelles, Ian Myles, for a farewell meeting on Thursday July 12, 2018.

The Speaker welcomed HC Myles and thanked him for his contributions during his tenure.

During the meeting both HC Myles and the Speaker, who was also accompanied by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Jutta Alexis, expressed appreciation for the long-standing friendship that has existed between Canada and Seychelles, as well as the successful participation of the Canadian parliament in the recent Conference of Presiding Officers and Speakers of the Commonwealth that was held at the Savoy Seychelles Resort & Spa in January this year.

Although the two countries have had very good bilateral relations, HC Myles spoke of the importance of comparing experiences and best practices between Nations, big and small, as well as the involvement of the National Assembly in international organisations and parliamentary forums.
