SeyPearl umbrella covers local football and beach volleyball |21 July 2018

The three national football leagues will now be played under the SeyPearl brand, while more beach volleyball tournaments under the same brand are expected, following agreements between the Seychelles Breweries and the two sports’ local governing bodies.

Daphne Raoul, commercial director of local brewing company Seychelles Breweries, yesterday, signed two memoranda of understanding with the two sporting federations, before handing over two cheques which will go towards the running and development of the two sports.

The ceremony took place at the O’Brian House, Le Rocher in the presence of Seychelles Breweries staff and executive committee members of the two sporting federations.

After the signing, secretary general of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Georges Bibi and his counterpart from the Seychelles Volleyball Federation (SVF) Terry Servina accepted the cheques worth R2 million and R125,000 respectively from Ms Raoul.

As part of the agreement with the SFF, SeyPearl will now brand the national team, while all three national leagues will now be called the SeyPearl League.

SeyPearl will also brand the youth academies training and playing kits and will provide free refreshments for all junior competitions. They will also be a key partner in fund-raising activities for the SFF.

As for the SVF, they will organise three beach volleyball competitions under the brand SeyPearl with the involvement of no more than eight teams, while ensuring the brand’s visibility at all events inclusive of match and official uniform.

SeyPearl will also provide entertainment at matches, with free product as refreshment.

Ms Raoul said the agreements and sponsors are part of the company’s corporate and social responsibility and that as a company, Seychelles Breweries is proud to partner with Seychelles’ sports.

With the new trend of living, Ms Raoul said the company is committed towards promoting a healthy lifestyle and is also pleased to be involved in sports, an activity which brings people, especially families.

On behalf of the SFF, Mr Bibi said the event is historic, significant and relevant at a time when our youths are more vulnerable to anti-social behaviour.

By partnering with the SFF, Seychelles Breweries, through SeyPearl is showcasing the commitment of the organisation towards joining the campaign for the people of Seychelles to engage in a healthy lifestyle.

He added that the work is challenging, but rewarding and needs the passion and energy of collaborative partners.

On behalf of the SVF, Mr Servina commended Seychelles Breweries for its involvement in sports, a move which he said will not only promote sports, but also a healthy lifestyle.

Mr Servina added that partnership with the private sector and other individuals is the best way to cultivate good practice in promoting sports.

He also added that it is not always about titles, cups and medals, but also about how the youths are being influenced to join sports and move away from the ill of society.

Other than the signed agreements, Mr Bibi said the SFF will provide all teams with SeyPearl logos that they will have to attach to their uniforms during matches.

He added that the national team kit and casual tracksuits, as well as the technical team’s uniform will be branded.
