Darts - Team Pouponneau, Esparon shine in the Association Doubles |07 August 2018

Marc Pouponneau joined forces with Collin Esparon on Sunday at the Bel Air community centre to compete in the Association Doubles which they won.

The challenge which featured seven teams would be determined after qualifying from the group stage where the teams would later meet to face off in the semifinals with a chance to play in the final.

In the final, team Pouponneau and Esparon completely dominated the duo of Paul Vidot and Terrance Hallock in the ‘best-of-nine’ affair.

Pouponneau and Esparon won the first set but Vidot and Hallock pulled level at 1-1. It was no stopping Pouponneau and Esparon as they claimed four consecutive sets for a final score of 5-1 to grab the Association Doubles title.

Eventual winners Marc Pouponneau and Collin Esparon met Bernard Berlouis and Nichol Esparon in the ‘best-of-seven’ semifinal. It was the victors who won the first set, before going on to lose the second. They went on to win the next two sets and needing just one set for the win, team Berlouis and Esparon tried to stay alive as they captured the fifth set. In the end, Pouponneau and Esparon pushed through to win the sixth set for a 4-2 victory as they advanced on to the final.

In the other semifinal, Paul Vidot joined Terrance Hallock as they faced off against Ranga Chetty and Jack Micock, and they had no problem dealing with their opponents. Team Hallock and Vidot pulled off an easy 4-0 win to progress to the final.

The two losing semifinalists faced off in the third place playoff decided on a best-of-five format.

After winning the first and fourth sets, team Berlouis and Esparon ended up losing the second and third for a 2-2 tie. A decisive fifth set was needed to know the winners and it was team Chetty and Micock who grabbed it to guarantee them third place.
