Special cabinet meeting considers proposals for Budget 2019 |07 August 2018

President Danny Faure chaired an extra-ordinary meeting of the cabinet yesterday, at which the Medium Term Expenditure Strategy for 2019-21 was considered, as part of the planning process for the 2019 Budget.

At yesterday’s meeting, the cabinet considered an analysis presented by the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment & Economic Planning of the initial budgetary submissions of the various government ministries, departments and agencies, based on national priorities.

Ministries, departments and agencies will now review their budgetary submissions in line with strategies agreed at yesterday morning’s meeting. 

The finance department will submit refined proposals for cabinet’s further consideration, ahead of the presentation of the 2019 Budget to the National Assembly by the Minister for Finance, Trade, Investment & Economic Planning on November 6, 2018.
