Volleyball: National League - Two straight sets wins for Praslin Girls |09 August 2018

Praslin Girls made a worthwhile trip to Mahe last weekend as they won their two matches in straight sets in the women’s top flight at the Palais des Sports.

The team put on a great show in their match against Breakaway, keeping their opponents to a single digit score in the first set which finished 25-8.

Breakaway tried to close the deficit in the second and third sets, but their level of performance was not good enough to push them to a win, as Praslin Girls grabbed the second set 25-11 and the third 25-19 for a 3-0 victory.

In their other match, things were different as they found themselves in a tightly contested encounter against Constance Ephelia.

They however managed to grab the first two sets on identical scores of 25-19, before confirming their second victory by winning the third set 25-15 and the match 3-0.

Defending division one league champions and leaders Arsu were also in action and they managed to impose themselves with 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-17) victory over Mont Fleuri.

Cascade also put in a dominating performance in their match-up against Friends to grab the first two sets on identical scores of 25-17, before bringing it home in the third set with a 25-10 win for a 3-0 final victory.

In the men’s division one league, leaders Swimblue Pals found themselves in a challenging match against Neo Boys who managed to grab a set in a 1-3 loss. The set scores were 20-25, 27-25, 25-20 and 25-19 in favour of Swimblue Pals.

Premium Spikers also won their match 3-1 against Beau Vallon. After losing the first set 23-25, Premium Spikers pulled level at 1-1 after winning the second set 25-23 and they took the lead with another 25-23 win in the third set. They then won the fourth set 25-22 for a 3-1 victory.

La Digue pulled off a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-23) victory over Ton Neo in the other men’s division one match.

In the men’s division two, Ephelia beat Airwaves 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-18) and Juniors defeated St Francis 3-1 (25-11, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18).

In two women’s bottom division games, Arsu Youth edged Tryers 3-2 (21-25, 25-14, 25-20, 10-25, 15-4) and Juniors came from two sets down to collect a 3-2 (12-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-12) win against St Louis Bombers.
