New pay parking areas and fees come in force |01 August 2013

As of today, motorists have to pay to park their vehicles in most parking spaces in Victoria as the transport department has introduced new pay parking areas and new parking fees.

According to road transport commissioner Patrick André, the new parking tariffs vary depending on the location and for how long the motorists park their vehicles.

Motorists will pay R5 for every half hour they park their vehicles on Francis Rachel Street, from the Huteau Lane junction to Albert Street and to the Manglier Street junction, from the Manglier Street junction to Huteau Lane and to the entrance of the Seychelles Trading Company, and at Market Street.

The same price of R5 is valid for parking in the spaces at the corner of Market Street and Quincy Street, and at the Barrel car park. But this time the R5 charged is valid for one hour.
Parking space rates at the Stad Popiler car park are R5 per hour, R10 for half day and R15 for a full day.

The same prices will also apply to parking spaces at the Water Front car park. However, since the Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA) will be undertaking construction works on the Water Front car park, parking spaces there will be free until further notice.

Motorists using the Victoria House, Gymnasium and Freedom Square car parks will have to pay R10 for one hour, R15 for half day and R25 for a full day.
Mr André noted that motorists can buy monthly pay parking coupons at the SLTA and from usual vendors at a price of R250.

These monthly coupons can be used at all the pay parking areas and for any length of time.

Vehicle owners and drivers are being asked to comply with the new pay parking scheme in place and to ensure that at all times they have a valid parking coupon which should be well displayed on the windscreen of their vehicles.

They should park their vehicles properly to avoid action being taken against them.
