Indian delegation head pays courtesy call on President Michel |07 August 2013

 

President James Michel met Sudhir Vyas, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, at State House yesterday morning.  
Mr Vyas is in Seychelles on a working visit following the 8th India-Seychelles Joint Commission meeting held in May in New Delhi.

Mr Michel and Mr Vyas discussed several areas of bilateral cooperation including economic, military, training, research and air links, and agreed to maximise cooperation between the two countries as two long-standing partners in the Indian Ocean region.

Present during the State House meeting were also the Indian High Commissioner to Seychelles, Thanglura Darlong, the foreign affairs principal secretary, Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, and the President's diplomatic adviser, Ambassador Callixte D'Offay.

The Seychelles delegation was led by Ambassador Loustau-Lalanne, and the Indian delegation by Mr Vyas at the meeting of the 8th India-Seychelles Joint Commission.
Meanwhile, during the visit of the Indian President Pratibha Patil to Seychelles in April 2012, India pledged a financial package of a line of credit of US $50 million and a grant of US $25 million for Seychelles.
