Indian association brings joy to the elderly |17 August 2013

Elderly people living in regional homes at Pointe Larue, Au Cap, Anse Royale and Anse Boileau also enjoyed the Feast of the Assumption with special treats this year and this is thanks to the kind and remarkable gesture of the Indian Association of Seychelles.

Being a special occasion for the Indians too as they celebrated their Independence Day anniversary on August 15, their association here saw it fitting to share their joy with the local elderly citizens living in regional homes on this special day for both communities.

The association has committed itself to providing breakfast to all elderly people in these mentioned homes for the next three months.

On Thursday members of the association, led by its vice-chairperson Ramu Pillay, distributed these gifts to the homes and spent some happy moments with the senior citizens there.

A spokesperson for the association said the initiative was very much appreciated by the homes which expressed sincere gratitude for this noble and thoughtful gesture which will no doubt further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the communities of the two nations.

Mr Pillay took the opportunity to extend invitations to all the senior citizens to attend the end of year Christmas party which his company, Pillay R Group, organises at the Palm Residency Restaurant every year as a sign of solidarity with the senior citizens, some of whom may be alone during this festive occasion.

The accompanying photos show members of the association distributing gifts to the elderly and spending time with them.
