Football: Sunkiss'd division one-La Passe hammer Light Stars to go second |13 July 2004

The win, La Passe's third after having shared the points with St Michel in a goalless home draw the weekend before, has helped them to leapfrog neighbours Anse Réunion into second position.

Both sides have 10 points to their accounts following three victories and a draw, but La Passe boast a superior goal difference than Anse Réunion.

As for Praslin-based Light Stars, who have just one victory in four matches, they are in eighth position with three points, nine less than leaders Red Star (12 points) who are to meet St Michel on Thursday at 5.30 p.m. at Stad Linite.

On Sunday, home team La Passe, under the leadership of Seychellois coach Marius Fanchette and Yugoslav advisor Vojo Gardasevic, controlled proceedings from the first whistle and young midfielder Melvin Uranie opened the floodgates in the 30th minute.

La Passe were by far the better side on Sunday and in the second 45-minute spell they netted six more goals.

Their second half goals came from Jonathan Bibi (48th), Eric Rajaobery (55th and 80th), Amisy Voavy (60th), Jude Bibi (70th) and Bruno Saindini (72nd).

Rwandan import Magnifique Ndikumana scored a consolation goal for Light Stars in injury time (92nd).
