Dobi Dry Cleaning Centre operational

The new Dobi Dry Cleaning Centre that recently opened its doors in Victoria

Mr Robin Kalebi, owner of Dobi Laundry and the new Dobi Dry Cleaning Centre, told Nation that the latest state-of-the-art machinery were imported to be able to provide a professional service directly to the public, hotels and guesthouses.

He noticed the need for this service in Seychelles four years ago when he found that many Seychellois were taking their garments abroad for dry cleaning and started investigating all the requirements to set up a fully functional operation alongside the laundry services.

After the necessary equipment was sourced, a suitable and visible location for the new centre was obtained in Victoria. By working through the proper channels for a GOP, a dry cleaning specialist was flown in from Kenya to train the staff and ensure that the highest quality of dry cleaning services can be provided.

The process of dry cleaning is done without the use of water; instead the clothing is cleaned with a special liquid solvent (PERC) that does not compromise the garment’s colour, texture or size, therefore prolonging the clothing’s lifetime.

The new Dry Cleaning Centre is situated at Storey House

Dry cleaning helps return garments to a ‘like new’ condition using precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of colour, and change of texture or finish. Another advantage of dry cleaning over conventional washing is its ability to dissolve grease and oils in ways water cannot.  Dry cleaning is suitable for all types of suits, dresses, wedding gowns, shirts, bedding, trousers and even leather.

Dobi Pty Ltd. was established in 1998 and expanded over the years from a small home operation to a larger plant in Providence and now the new dry cleaning collection centre. Dobi Pty Ltd currently employs 32 all-Seychellois staff.

The new Dry cleaning collection centre is situated at Storey House in Victoria and is open 5 days a week from 9am to 5pm. For more information about the centre they can be contacted directly on 324 672 or via email on dobi@seychelles.sc.
