Aspiring coaches follow training sessions |23 April 2009

Director of the newly created Federations Management and Development Division, Robert Auguste, officially opened the session.

The sessions fall under the National Coaches Accreditation Programme, which has four levels. Levels one to three are designed to train and develop coaches into competent leaders of schools, communities, clubs and federation sports programmes.

Level four is designed for coaches working with high-performance athletes and for those interested in a career in coaching. It prepares coaches for leadership roles in national and international sports and represents the top level of professional training for coaches. Coaches also follow overseas training.

The training will go on for 10 weeks and all coaches must complete a total of 30 hours of sessions.

The six lecturers are Patrick Nicette, Terrence Barbé (psychology), Paul Denis (biology), Christina Esther (sports and nutrition), Denis Dodin (sports injuries) and Giovanna Rousseau (sports planning).

The training is being run by the Training and Technical Development Division headed by Bernard Denis.
