The text of the message reads:

“Following your election as the President of the Republic of South Africa, it affords me and the people of Seychelles the opportunity to convey to you our warmest and most heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.

“In these moments, when the world is slowly recuperating from a dramatic economic downturn, South Africa as a nation needs a leader of your caliber, who strives for the economic and social growth of the country.

“Your election heralds a new era of cooperation and progress for the Republics of Seychelles and South Africa, promising the strengthening of bilateral relations and the promotion of healthy collaboration between our two countries.

“I am confident that the great ties of friendship that bind our two nations will be upheld under your leadership, to ensure the accomplishment of our mutual goals.

“I take this opportunity to thank you for South Africa’s support for Seychelles as we undergo our current macro-economic reforms. As a Small Island Developing State, we have been particularly thankful for the support of South Africa under the aegis of the Southern African Development Community and the African Union.

“I look forward to furthering our bilateral cooperation, as well as cooperation in the context of these regional partnerships.

“Please accept, Mr President, the assurances of my highest consideration and our best wishes for your personal wellbeing and happiness and that of your family. May our two peoples continue to enjoy shared progress and prosperity.”
