Miss Deaf Seychelles calls on President

She said her visit was in line with the local tradition of beauty pageant winners calling on the head of state.

Miss David told Nation she took the opportunity to ask the President whether building the proposed school for the deaf can be speeded up.

“Although we know the Ministry of Education is working on it, and a plot has already been identified, we would like a chance to chip in and we are sure the President’s intervention can speed things up,” she said through Anita Gardner, who heads the Association for People with Hearing Impairment.

They were accompanied by Miss Deaf South Africa, Portia Oliver, who is in Seychelles as part of a delegation of South Africans who helped to stage the recent pageant.

Miss David was crowned as the first Miss Deaf Seychelles on Sunday at the International Conference Centre.
