Seychelles Regatta-Le Professeur Desjoyeaux in the lead |19 May 2009

The time limit for all of them to reach the beautiful Anse Lazio beach on Praslin is 4.30pm, after which the sailors will go snorkelling and dine on their catch of the day.

Situated on the north-west corner of Praslin at Baie Chevalier, Anse Lazio is considered by many to be the best beach in Seychelles.

Year after year it is voted ‘the best beach in the world’ by numerous travel publications and newspapers.

On the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Seychelles, experienced French ocean sailor Michel Desjoyeaux is already proving why he is a two-time Vendée Globe winner – in 2000-2001 and 2008-2009.

Skipper of the Nicolas Feuillate boat, le Professeur, as he is known by his peers, leads the regatta with three points after victory in all three races.

In second position overall is the Keneos Aubriet boat (skipper Romain Attanasio) with nine points after finishing fifth in race one and second in races two and three

Third place is held by Lady Anya (skipper Dee Caffari) with 12 points after three fourth places.

The regatta, which is being run on a handicap basis, will end on Saturday at Eden Island.
