Seychelles Regatta-Gruelling fifth day ahead as Desjoyeaux stays in the lead |21 May 2009

Yesterday, the all-star fleet took part in two races and French star sailor Michel Desjoyeaux won one of them – the first of the day, which was also the regatta’s fifth race.

Sailing Nicolas Feuillatte – a Leopard 43 catamaran – Desjoyeaux was third in race number six to bring his points tally to nine. After his worst result – the third position – was discarded, Desjoyeaux and his crew continue to dominate the standings with six points.

It will be tough for the fleet to dislodge the twice Vendée Globe winner with four races left in the regatta.

Second and third places in race number five went to Keneos Aubriet boat (skipper Romain Attanasio) and Lady Anya (skipper Dee Caffari).

Skippered by Englishwoman Samantha Davies, CPR Decoration was ranked first in race number six and it was followed in second position by Lady Anya.

Like Desjoyeaux’s Nicolas Feuillatte, the other boats have had their worst results discarded after the sixth race.

The CPR boat stays second overall with 14 points, while Keneos Aubriet remains third with 16.

Lady Anya (20 points), Rome Team (22 points), Chagneau (25 points), C-Team (28 points), Air Seychelles (37 points) and Tera Cognita (39 points) occupy the remaining places in the overall standings.

Race seven of the semi-professional competition is scheduled to start at 9am and the eighth one at 3pm between buoys to Curieuse island. Arrival is at Anse Volbert on Praslin.
