Volleyball: National Championship-Defending champions set pace

Neither team has lost a single set so far.
On Saturday, at the Palais des Sports, the boys of coach Bernard Denis thrashed Praslin-based BSA Spikers 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-12) to preserve their top spot.

Under the captaincy of Jean-Paul Lepathy, Premium Spikers – who have collected nine straight sets – are now on nine points after three matches.

Beau Vallon, who beat Roots 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-17) are in the runners-up spot with the same points tally but a worse set difference.

With seven points after three matches, Racing Club – who on Saturday beat St Louis 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 26-24) – are third.
St Louis now lie in fourth place with five points, while Roots and Baie Ste Anne Spikers are fifth and sixth with three points apiece.

In the women’s division one league, Arsu are now in first place after their weekend 3-0 victory over BSA Sisters. The set scores were 25-21, 25-8 and 25-13. They have nine points after three matches, as have Cascade, who beat La Digue 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-17).

With four points after four matches, Roots Sisters, who beat La Digue
3-2 (24-26, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 18-16), are fourth while with four points each, La Digue and BSA Sisters are fifth and sixth.

In the only men’s division one match played during the weekend, Neo Boyz defeated Cadets 3-0. The set scores were 25-20, 26-16 and 25-23.

After a maximum five wins from five matches, United Sisters top the women’s division two league table with 15 points. On Sunday, they took 100 minutes to labour past Mont Fleuri 3-2. The set scores were 24-25, 25-18, 25-16, 20-25 and 15-7.
Mont Fleuri tail the league table with only five points from five matches.
