Earlier this year the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and Eden Island, launched a painting competition for schools under the theme “Sailing and Tourism”.  The competition was divided into two categories: primary and secondary.  Each school could participate with two paintings.

Eden Island accepted to sponsor prizes for the school, equipment which are important in supporting teaching and learning.  For each category the first prize was an LCD Projector, equipment which will surely help teachers as now most of them own a laptop computer.  LCD Projectors are also very much in demand for school development planning sessions.  The second prizes were digital cameras, equipment very much in demand by schools, especially in documentation of school activities.  The third prizes were DVD players, another quite important equipment which schools can use to promote teaching and learning.

At secondary level, Anse Royale won the first prize, followed by English River in the second place and Praslin secondary in third position.  In the primary category the first prize went to Mont Fleuri, followed by Grand Anse Mahe and Beau Vallon in second and third places, respectively.

This year, the quality of work produced by schools was very high and it was not easy for the judges to select the winners.
Winning schools were presented with their prizes during the Seychelles Regatta Award Ceremony at Eden Island on Saturday evening.

The Ministry of Education thanks the management of Eden Island for their generosity and is calling upon schools to use these resources effectively.
