Rewarding the best sportsmen and sportswomen |13 June 2009

After five in April, only six sports – athletics, basketball, karate, cycling, table tennis and swimming – chose their best athletes in May.

The Athlete of the Month Award scheme was introduced to help smooth the final selection process for the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year titles.

To win the awards, the recipients must have achieved outstanding performances at national, regional or international level during a particular month. 

Athletes of the Month for May:
Athletics: Lindy Leveau-Agricole, William Woodcock (senior), Leeroy Henriette and Alice Khan (youth)
Basketball: Myra Solin, Kieran Agathine (senior)
Karate: Xavier Jules and Laina Adrienne (senior)
Cycling: Andy Rose (senior)
Swimming: Shrone Austin, Shane Mangroo (senior), Shannon Austin, Shane Mangroo (youth)
Table tennis: Anniessa Benstrong and Godfrey Sultan (senior)
