Guitarists to mark Music Day with performance workshop |13 June 2009

An initiative of classical guitar virtuoso David Andre, in collaboration with the Alliance Française, the event will take place at its headquarters on Bois de Rose Avenue.

“Anybody who plays the guitar professionally or just for fun can bring along their instrument and take part in the activity,” says David.

For logistical reasons, those interested can get in touch with David beforehand on telephone 513106, but anyone who feels like turning up on the day will be most welcome.

The workshop-cum-performance starts at 4pm and is expected to last between two and two-and-a-half hours.
David says those taking part will be put into groups according to their ability and from there work on a musical piece they will perform as an ensemble at the end of the working session.

“The idea is for guitar lovers to learn from each other and get a deeper insight into the instrument in a fun and relaxed atmosphere,” says David.

This workshop-cum-performance will be followed by entertainment from various musical groups where anyone is welcome to join in the fun.

The event, which is expected to end at 8pm, is free of charge.
