He added that the wind condition is perfect and with his experience he can achieve his goal.
The other Seychellois sailor in the Laser standard class is Rodney Govinden who is occupying third spot overall.
For his part, Govinden said even though this is his first appearance at the Games, he is all out for the best possible result and is challenging for the gold medal.
The second series of races in the Laser standard class is today.
At the end of the first day of the Laser radial class on Monday, Roy Govinden was fourth overall with 11 points after two second-place finishes and one seventh place.
Young sailor Hansel Esther was seventh overall with 21 points after finishing sixth, seventh and eighth in the three races.
In the ladies’ competition, defending champion Meggy Gertrude was third overall with 10 points after getting two third places and a fourth place in three races. She was followed in fourth position overall by her sister Beth Gertrude with 11 points after two fourth places and a third place finish.
The second series of races in the radial class were expected to take place yesterday.
Sailing coach Alain Alcindor said if the wind stays the same or if the wind speed increases in the Bay of Maputo, he is optimistic that our local sailors will harvest more than one medal.
