China’s Henan province seeks closer relations

Yesterday they called on President James Michel at State House where they held talks with Seychellois representatives from these fields.

Among those present at the meeting from the Seychelles’ side were Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Paul Adam, the Minister for Investment, Natural Resources and Industry Peter Sinon, chief executive of the Seychelles Investment Bureau Sherin Renaud and the chief executive of the Seychelles Agricultural Agency, Antoine Moustache.

Flavien Joubert, principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy and Amia Jovanovic-Desir of the Seychelles Tourism Board represented the chief executive of the STB.

Chinese ambassador Wang Weguo led his country’s team which was made up of Zhu Qingmeng, who is the director general of the foreign affairs office of the People’s Government of Henan Province, Chang Jianhua, who is the deputy director general of the Development and Reform Commission, deputy director general for finance Liu Quan, chairman of the board of Jian Ye Engineering Group Corporation, Hu Baosen, chairman of the Board of Missing Food Group Corporation, Li Wei, and Zhao Yuqing from Henan’s foreign affairs office.

Mr Zhu said the visit is meant to explore investment opportunities with Seychelles in the fields named, noting Seychelles has mastered tourism which has been boosted by the country’s unspoiled environment.

He said Henan is advanced in modern plant culture methods which Seychelles has shown interest in and which the province is willing to share with us.

The delegation is expected to see farming and tourism projects on Praslin today.
