New squash equipment for improved play

Mr Morgan (left) receives part of the equipment from Mr Gopal

The racquets are of the Dunlop, Prince and Aerogel brand and have been bought with the US $2,000 the Seychelles Squash Association (SSA) has received from the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga).

The money comes from the Olympic Solidarity initiative budget and is given to all National Olympic Committees.

Socga president Antonio Gopal presented the equipment to SSA chairman Phil Morgan at the end of last Friday’s HSI Life knockout final won by Rod Thorington.

Mr Morgan said he expects to see more young people come to the Mont Fleuri courts to learn to play the game.

“We want to see more players around,” he told Sports Nation.

Mr Morgan added that the SSA hopes to organise a tournament sponsored by SeyPearl in late October or early November, and possibly a third in December.
