National airline to return two Boeings |24 September 2011

Speaking at the airline’s general staff meeting on Friday last week at the University of Seychelles’ Anse Royale campus, its executive chairman Maurice Loustau-Lalanne said Air Seychelles will return its two B767-200s (Amirantes and Bijoutier) and operate both the international and regional routes with our three B767-300s. These two Boeings are the smallest and oldest in the airline’s fleet.

Mr Loustau-Lalanne said “it is unfortunate that we could not continue our charter operations to the Falklands and this latest development has caused us to relook at our fleet”.

“The board decided it was prudent at this stage to operate with three B767-300s -- Aldabra, Vallée De Mai and Frégate”
He added that “we will have full compatibility on our route network and the same level of service and comfort on all our routes”.

“This is a temporary solution as by 2014 Air Seychelles will introduce new modern aircraft and replace the three ageing B767-300s.”

These Boeings will do international routes in Europe as well as Singapore, Mauritius and Johannesburg.

Mr Loustau-Lalanne said they have decided to abandon the Dreamliner plan as these Boeings were going to be leased only by 2017.

He said the airline cannot wait that long as it has to remain competitive.
