Engineer turns colleagues into trainers

SCAA workers after receiving their certificates in the presence of Messrs Abandeh, Faure and Mondon

Mr Mondon invited Hussam Abandeh here from Oman to train the Seychellois engineers, senior technicians and supervisors so that they can in turn train their colleagues, giving the technical knowledge they have to more SCAA staff than would have benefitted if they were to be sent overseas – a few at a time at much higher cost.

The local staff who got the new skills during the month-long training come from the engineering, technical services, telecommunication and information systems sectors of the SCAA.

Mr Husssam is the director of the course development unit of the Queen Noor Civil Aviation Technical College and an International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Trainair institute expert.

The staff thanked SCAA’s chief executive Gilbert Faure and Mr Mondon for organising the training, and Mr Hussam for running it “so efficiently”, saying they are now able to design and deliver in-house courses in their profession or any other fields within the organisation and hope to do so in the future.

They said they found Mr Hussam to be a good trainer of trainers, noting he has conducted many such courses at other countries’ civil aviation training centres.

Some of the lessons he gave were entitled: Instructor Training Course, On-the-Job Training Techniques and Examination Techniques.

The 20 got their certificates in a ceremony held in the Seychelles International Airport’s Departure hall on Friday.
