Wind-farm project to start later this month |02 December 2011
This follows talks held recently in Abu Dhabi by President James Michel and a coordination meeting held yesterday morning at State House.
The meeting, chaired by the President, was attended by the Minister for Home Affairs, Environment, Transport and Energy, Joel Morgan, senior representatives of the Seychelles Energy Commission, the Public Utilities Corporation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of Masdar.
Work on the wind-farm project will start before the end of the year.
It is expected to be commissioned by November 2012.
Once operational, the wind farm will generate some 6 megawatts of electricity, contributing about 11 per cent of power production and 2 percent of energy to the national grid.
