Darts-Pool wins Premium Throws competition

Winner PoolHe replaces Patrick Radegonde of the Premium Throws team and he was present on Saturday at the Cascade community centre to defend his title.

The competition gathered 15 players who were divided into two groups of eight and seven for the preliminaries before the top-four from each pool clashed in the knock-out stages.

Pool, along with Bernard Berlouis of Barclay Ami Dart, Nichol Esparon of Hard Target and Paul Vidot of Premium Throws were the top finishers in group A, while Mike Rachel and Patrick Radegonde of Premium Throws, Collin Esparon of Hard Target and Reuben Port-Louis of Direct Arrows were the top four players in group B.

In his best-of-three quarterfinal clash, Pool eliminated Collin Esparon 2-0 to book a place in the semifinal where he met Mike Rachel who had won his quarterfinal 2-0 against Bernard Berlouis.

On song Pool continued his winning streak by thrashing Rachel 3-0 in the best-of-five semifinal for a final spot against Esparon who also won the other semifinal on a 3-0 score against Paul Vidot.

In the final, Pool came out stronger to win the best-of-seven series 4-2 and claim this year’s Premium Throws title.
Rachel finished third overall after winning the third place play-off 2-0 against Vidot.

Meanwhile, the darts association has announced its best male and female players for the 2011 season.

With 49 points, Mike Rachel narrowly tops the men’s group ahead of Nichol Esparon (47 points) and Bernard Berlouis (45 points), while Debra Desaubin is this year’s best female player with five points.

Monia Delpeche is the runner-up with four points, while Chris Gordine finished third with one point.
